An ode to grandma worth

J's wonderful grandmother recently passed away. Though I never was
able to be very close to her, I always enjoyed talking about crafts
and handiwork with her.
I was blessed to receive much of her sewing and knitting supplies as a
gift. I uses some of her old wooden needles to make this wrap and
then used a "yoyo" from an unfinished quilt to finish it off.
I'm happy to wear it and think of her.

ok, so i search through all you blog entries to find this one that i KNEW i had seen....i just learned how to knit last night (thanks to u-tube!) and just need to know, if you'll share, was there a pattern? is it a triangle or just a rectangle? i'd like to make one and i promise that i won't use the yo-yos.

you can use Yoyos!
It's not like I'm selling these... all you need to do is literally to make a really wide rectangle. like a scarf only wider... and then when it's long enough to overlap, choose the angle,"sew" it together by stitching it with yarn and then tack on whatever cute thing you've got that you want to use as an anchor. I originally was going to use HUGE red buttons, but settled on the yoyo...
go ahead... but please please send a photo when it's done, i'd LOVE to see it.
=)
happy knitting.

ps -
you could do a fancy pattern, but i just do a straight KNIT - all the way through. i like it better than anything else.
(this is a great first project)

thank you so much! just a couple more questions,...how much yarn did you use and what kind? and what size needles are good for this? the buttons sound like fun, but the yoyos look awesome....aahh, the itch to create needs to be scratched! thank you, thank you!

HI Mama Gina.
I've been trying to post this all day, but my phone wasn't doing it right.
anyhow ... I used something similar to the BERNAT SOFT BOUCLE yarn that you can find at most craft stores. I'm not sure if I did use that exactly, but if it wasn't - its close enough. One skein (5oz) should be more than enough, and I almost always gravitate to 9.5, 10 or 10.5 needles, so my guess would be that it was one of those.

not to be vague... I seriously have no clue. that should be enough to get you going, though!
good luck!
